The COVID-19 vaccine rollout has officially begun here in Massachusetts with almost 150,000 doses being distributed statewide as of January 7, 2021. Last week, the Massachusetts Vaccine Advisory Group updated the state’s COVID-19 vaccine priority groups in accordance with the newest CDC recommendations to include adults age 75 and older in the state’s Phase 2 Group 1 (see chart) .
Eligible individuals in Phase 2 Group 1 should begin receiving vaccines here in Massachusetts sometime in February 2021. This group would include family caregivers and persons with a dementia diagnosis age 75 and older who are living at home. Individuals under age 75 with at least 2 comorbid conditions should also begin receiving the vaccine in Phase 2 Group 1 in February.
Family caregivers and persons with dementia between 65 and 75 years old without at least 2 co-morbid conditions are also included in Phase 2 (see chart), but are only eligible after the aforementioned priority groups.
