About Dream Day on Cape Cod!

Dream Day on Cape Cod is a non-profit organization based in Brewster, Ma, dedicated to bringing respite into the lives of seriously ill children and their families. Since 1993, Dream Day has helped hundreds of these families disconnect from the daily struggles of hospital and doctors’ visits and round-the-clock care to reconnect with one another and to connect with others who understand and accept what they have been going through at its Camp Nan-Ke-Rafe, a 31-acre facility located adjacent to Nickerson State Park.

Behind every seriously ill child is a family in crisis – families that are extremely vulnerable for a number of reasons including stress related to a child’s illness, limited social outlets that can accommodate their needs and resulting social isolation, and financial stress. A serious illness affects the whole family, changing the fabric and the focus of everyday life. Dream Day is unique in that provides a camp experience for the entire family as Dream Day believes the struggles inherent with an ill child affect brothers, sisters, and parents alike.

Through its programs, Dream Day offers an unwavering, unconditional community of support. A community that knows. A community that understands. Families join to share what they learned and how they coped. Dream Day cabins hold so much more than people. They hold friendship. They hold laughter. They hold tears and the most precious memories of countless campers and counselors alike. Most importantly, they hold the feeling of inclusiveness and love that families feel knowing they are surrounded by people who understand them.

Dream Day hosts eight-week-long camp sessions each summer bringing in eight families per session at no charge to them. Daily programming includes traditional types of camp activities such as team sports, arts & crafts, archery, swimming, boating, and campfires as well as field trips to the ocean and many popular Cape Cod attractions.
