Our mission

To inspire reverence for wildlife and concern for the natural environment as taught in the writings of conservationist and naturalist Thornton W. Burgess.

Please Help

The Thornton Burgess Green Briar Nature Center & Jam Kitchen, like many non-profits and businesses, is struggling at this time. Our usual revenue stream has become a “trickle” and will not cover all necessary operational costs. We are asking for your support to make a small donation to help us continue with the care of our animals. Although any donation amount will make a difference, we are asking everyone to consider “Giving Twenty in 2020.” As a thank you for your donation of $20 or more, we will send you two guest passes to the Cape Cod Museum of Natural History.

About us

The Thornton W. Burgess Society/Green Briar Nature Center & Jam Kitchen and the Cape Cod Museum of Natural History have entered into serious discussions about joining together to become the Cape Cod Museums of Natural History, a coalition of nature centers from Sandwich to the outer Cape. The coalition will maintain the identities of both organizations with a common vision and with the potential to expand, enrich and integrate programs on both the East Sandwich and Brewster campuses.
